Refurbishment of Immingham Civic Centre

BCJ Construction was appointed to deliver a full refurbishment and internal remodelling of the Immingham Civic Centre, transforming the existing building into a modern, multi-use community hub. The project brought together several essential public services under one roof, enhancing accessibility and service delivery for the local population.

Project Overview

The comprehensive refurbishment included:

Office Reconfiguration: Modernisation and reorganisation of office spaces to improve workflow, efficiency, and staff wellbeing.

Library and Museum Upgrades: Refurbishment of public-facing library and museum areas to create welcoming, functional environments for learning, culture, and community engagement.

Police Station Integration: Fit-out and secure remodelling of a new police station within the existing building envelope, meeting operational and security requirements.

Full Interior Works: Works included new partitioning, flooring, ceilings, M&E upgrades, and high-quality finishes throughout to deliver a cohesive, modern facility.

Our Approach

BCJ Construction managed the project end-to-end, working closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure the complex refurbishment met the diverse needs of each department. All works were completed while preserving the character of the existing structure and maintaining public safety.

Outcome

The completed Civic Centre now stands as a vital, centralised hub for the community—bringing together local government, heritage, education, and policing in one unified space. As Assistant Chief Constable Lee Freeman remarked:
“The hub will be a fantastic asset for the people of Immingham, bringing a number of key services together under one roof.”

This project is a testament to BCJ Construction’s ability to coordinate and deliver high-impact, multi-agency refurbishments in live public environments.
